Problem Statement:

There ought to be a Task Force that includes health, legal professionals, academia, AADK, police to thoroughly review relevant laws and policies - making clear distinctions between the harms from different types of illicit drugs and distinctions between drug use and trafficking.

Value(s) and Belief(s):

It is essential to create a National Drug Policy that balances prevention, treatment, harm reduction and supply reduction with clear roles for the different agencies involved together with expansion of voluntary evidence based treatment, in the Malaysian context.

Proposal of Solution:

a. Drug use needs to be viewed as a health and social issue

b. Reduce Prison population

c. Improve access to treatment, counselling, social and welfare support

d. Remove punitive drugs and policy which are barrier for evidence based drug policy
