Problem Statement / Issue:

Many police, MACC, immigration or prison officers committed acts of tortures because they lacked the idea and knowledge of human rights.

Value(s) and Belief(s):

No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. (Article 5 of Universal Declaration of Human Rights 1948)

Proposal of Solution and Call to Action:

Compulsory Human Rights Training for enforcement agencies and officers involved in development planning. Lack of human rights knowledge among enforcement officers indicate the failure of our education system, the government must rectify the problem by providing necessary trainings for enforcement officers. Moreover, officers involved in development planning should also receive human rights training, so that they will take into the account of the rights of indigenous people, urban settlers, farmers and fishermen when make development plan.
